The Canebrake

We came to Oklahoma for the Bluegrass & Chili festival held this year in Tahlequah. Canebrake is approximately 20 minutes from there but worth the drive. Nice accomodations, friendly helpful staff and good food. This property offers a great view of Fort Gibson lake. They have a golf simulator, game room and swimming pool. My son and I played Torrey Pines on the golf simulator and it was really cool. Plus the Fort Gibson lake State Park golf course is only 10 minutes away.

I can't speak to the regular experience here, but for my yoga retreat, it was a wonderful experience, and they did excellent work supporting all of the attendees. In particular, the rooms are absolutely lovely, especially for the price and location.

What a hidden gem! This place has it all if you’re looking for the perfect weekend getaway or event center. Need a girls weekend? They have a massage & wellness studio & yoga. Live music in a rustic barn setting? Yep, they’ve got it. The food… oh the food was AMAZING!! The owner Michelle was very friendly & told us all about the property. This place will be our new go-to for brunch or dinner when we have friends & family visiting. Thanks Canebreak for a wonderful experience!

The Canebrake is a beautiful property! They hosted a Girls’ Weekend that was absolutely incredible! My friends and I stayed 2 nights in Tanner House, which was the cutest house with a beautiful little walk up to the main building. We participated in all of the fun event inclusions: yoga, cocktail class, pool time, live music at the barn, incredible meals! They pay the most amazing attention to detail for these events and especially the dining all year round! I never had a bite that I didn’t like, and we were SO well fed between breakfast, lunch, dinner, AND brunch! This is a great getaway spot in NE Oklahoma that should be on everyone’s list to visit. I can’t wait for the next Girls’ Weekend!

We attended thanksgiving brunch yesterday and all I can say is wow. You guys outdid yourselves. Everything was top notch, the atmosphere, the food, the service was beyond our expectations. We lost my mama a year ago and lost our favorite uncle a month ago. Our hearts weren’t into cooking a big meal so we decided to give you guys a try. Thank you for helping remind us that we still have so much to be thankful for. We will totally be back!!!! 1000/10 recommend!!!!!

Owners and staff make you feel at home. This resort is for those who just want to relax and take it easy. This was the best Sunday brunch I have ever had. Better than anything in OKC or Tulsa.

I had never heard of the Canebrake before a friend suggested it. It is an out of the way place that is extremely peaceful. We went for a best friends trip in October 2025 and spent 3days/4 nights there. Kirk checked us in and assisted with our luggage and even started the initial stack of wood for the fire pit. 1st. We stayed in the "motel" where the beds were absolutely wonderful. The king bed separated into 2 twins which was perfect. The room had 2 dressers, a small fridge a sizeable bathroom and 2 side chairs and we asked for a microwave. Massive trees just outside, lots of deer, a fire pit, large swimming pool and hot tub, and most importantly quiet and peaceful. They offer fishing poles to fish in their private ponds and bicycles to ride around the property also. 2nd. We spent 2 days at the spa. 1st day was a hot stone massage with Heather which was wonderful, 2nd day was a massage, reflexology, head massage and full body massage with Sunshine and Heather. Wonderful way to relax. The venue offers a game room for guests with pool, foosball, etc as well as a golf simulator, and a 200 person event area for weddings. They cater as well. We had dinner and beverages in the restaurant/bar and it was wonderful. The staff is accommodating and helpful! I had the filet, my friend had the chicken. Our waitress was spot on with service. #3 let's talk about the cool outdoor barn with live bands, pool tables, corn hole, horse shoes, another fire pit, amazing burgers and barbecue. Jessi, the bartender is a delight and we thoroughly enjoyed talking to her! This little gem tucked away by Ft Gibson lake is definitely a great spot for adults to find some quiet time away from the stresses of life and yet still have available all of the amenities they need. I 1000% recommend this place for a friend's getaway, a romantic getaway, or a respite from the hustle and bustle of life.

Delighted and surprised by the staff, amenities, and location. Truly a gem worth the extra cost. The restaurant had great food, drinks, and we loved the Sunset suite (108). If you don't/can't walk with luggage, I wouldn't recommend 108 as it is the about 200 feet away from the parking area on a moderate gravel trail, but for us it was perfect!
